Assistant Financial Controller

GCS Malta is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to join the team at one of Malta's top 5* Hotels. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing the financial department's operations.

Your Responsibilities

  • Preparing and checking Management Accounts, ensuring balanced accounts.
  • Managing postings, adjustments, and reporting in Sage software.
  • Handling accruals, prepayments, and staff matters.
  • Communicating with banks, tax authorities, and preparing VAT reports.
  • Clarifying account queries with the Finance Manager.
  • Conducting spot checks, cash counts, and assisting auditors.
  • Supervising and training team members.
  • Supporting job rotations and assisting with other tasks.
  • Participating in internal/external training.
  • Managing payroll, intercompany paperwork, and Head Office communication.
  • Overseeing cashier and payables functions.
  • Preparing payment runs and reviewing reconciliations.
  • Handling month and year
  • end tasks.
  • Preparing daily reports for the Finance Manager.

Required Skills

This role requires someone who is knowledgeable in Sage Evolution and Excel, with strong communication, management and time management skills. Professionalism and a strong work ethic is essential.

Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in a similar role within the financial field is preferred and will be considered an asset.
