GCS Malta is looking for a Legal Officer to work with a local public agency.
Applicants must hold an LL.D, M.Adv, or an equivalent law qualification at NQF7 or higher, and be a registered advocate in Malta. Candidates who are in the process of completing their final qualification by December 2025 and intend to obtain their warrant or registration within 12 months of employment will also be considered.
This role demands sound understanding of the laws that govern the prevention of money laundering and funding of terrorism in Malta, EU legislation and international standards in the area.
One must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, along with excellent written and verbal communications skills in either Maltese or English.

Responsibilities
- Drafting legal positions, research papers, and national legislation, including transposition and implementation of EU AML/CFT requirements
- Providing legal counsel to internal departments as required
- Representing the legal team in internal and external committees and meetings
- Assisting in drafting and vetting agreements involving the organisation
- Representing the organisation in international AML/CFT forums
- Supporting international relations efforts, including drafting/negotiating agreements, coordinating meetings, and participating in working groups
- Liaising with government departments, agencies, authorities, and private entities on legal matters
- Participating in AML/CFT outreach initiatives
- Assisting and representing the organisation in legal proceedings
- Performing additional duties as assigned by senior management
