GCS Malta is looking for a Data Scientist to work with one of Malta’s leading service providers.
Responsibilities
- Accessing, assessing, and preparing structured and unstructured datasets, exploring internal and external data sources and integrating them into model-ready datasets.
- Developing and validating time-series, structural, and causal models to forecast outcomes and identify key drivers.
- Understanding business needs, defining data science approaches, and translating model outputs into clear, actionable insights for Commercial and Operational teams.
- Collaborating with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and smooth model deployment.
The ideal candidate should have prior experience as a Data Scientist in a commercial setting, with solid expertise in time-series modelling techniques such as SARIMAX, Prophet, BSTS, structural regression, and causal inference methods (e.g., gradient boosting, random forests, regularized regression).
One must have high proficiency in mathematics and statistics, and a solid grasp of the theory and implementation of data science techniques. Excellent command of Python and SQL is essential, along with experience working with large data-warehouse environments and integrating multiple data sources.
Applicants should be able to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A proactive mindset and strong problem-solving skills are essential.
