GCS Malta is seeking a Deputy MLRO to join a leading international platform in the crypto and banking sector.
The ideal candidate should hold a relevant professional certification such as an ICA Diploma, ACAMS, CAMS, or an equivalent qualification, along with over three years of experience in AML/CFT or compliance. Experience within financial services, fintech, VASPs or CASPs, payment institutions, or EMIs would be considered a strong asset.
Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulatory frameworks, including transaction monitoring systems, customer risk scoring, and sanctions screening is essential. The role also requires an understanding of crypto-asset risks, such as blockchain analytics, digital wallets, and DeFi exposure, as well as familiarity with FATF guidance related to crypto assets.
Strong analytical, investigative and communication skills are required, along with the ability to identify financial crime risks with strong understanding of regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities
- Assisting the MLRO in developing, implementing, and overseeing the company’s AML/CFT framework
- Acting as Deputy MLRO and providing cover during the MLRO’s absence
- Supporting compliance with AML/CFT regulatory requirements
- Monitoring the effectiveness of AML/CFT policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Conducting ongoing monitoring of customer relationships and transactions
- Identifying and escalating suspicious activities where required
- Assisting with investigations of unusual transactions and preparing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the FIAU
- Supporting enterprise-wide AML/CFT risk assessments and monitoring ML/TF risks related to crypto assets and digital wallets
- Assisting with the implementation and oversight of CDD, EDD, and ongoing monitoring procedures
- Reviewing onboarding processes for high-risk customers
- Supporting regulatory reporting to the MFSA and FIAU
- Assisting in preparing compliance reports for senior management and the Board
- Supporting AML/CFT training initiatives and promoting awareness of financial crime risks related to crypto-asset services
