GCS Malta is seeking to recruit a Data Engineering Tech Lead to join a leading company within the iGaming industry. The Tech Lead will be reporting directly to the Chief Analytics Officer.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software or Data Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years in data engineering or software architecture, including at least 2 years in a senior leadership role guiding architecture and mentoring teams.
This role requires proven experience leading data modernization initiatives and designing scalable architectures, strong Python and SQL skills, expertise in at least one cloud platform (AWS or GCP), experience with lakehouse/data warehouse environments, modular ELT pipelines, cross-cloud integration, CI/CD, version control, and familiarity with data governance, schema validation, and RPA frameworks.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities
- Leading and mentoring data engineering teams in Data Collection and ETL/Governance.
- Designing and implementing Medallion data pipelines (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for structured, decision-ready datasets.
- Executing multi-cloud orchestration across AWS, Microsoft Fabric, and Google Cloud.
- Modernizing AWS components and legacy batch systems to cloud-native infrastructure.
- Overseeing ingestion from 400+ sources, including APIs, affiliates, and RPA processes.
- Establishing data governance with contracts, schema validation, and observability frameworks.
- Standardizing ELT transformations to automate business rules and operational logic.
- Implementing CI/CD and monitoring for pipeline reliability and proactive issue resolution.
- Collaborating with DevOps, Product, and BI teams to align platform capabilities with business needs.
