GCS Malta is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a leading international communication technology company.
The selected candidate should have a background in IT or computer science, with a degree or equivalent practical experience considered an asset.
This role requires general experience with operating systems, primarily Linux, including command-line proficiency, as well as familiarity with common networking technologies such as DNS, NAT, and IPsec. The candidate should also be able to write Bash or Python scripts for automation and possess strong troubleshooting skills.
Applicants should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.

Responsibilities
- Managing and monitoring software and hardware systems
- Configuring and maintaining software applications
- Ensuring high system availability and reliability
- Monitoring and testing application performance to identify bottlenecks
- Collaborating with QA and Development teams on bug fixes and system optimisation
- Maintaining regular backups of mission-critical systems
- Providing second-level support to Customer Service and participating in on-call support rotation
- Liaising with external service providers for hardware-related issues
- Performing 24/7 proactive monitoring of live and pre-production environments
