Accountant

GCS Malta is seeking an Accountant to work with one of Malta's leading pharmaceutical companies. The chosen candidate will be reporting directly to the Head of Finance.


Responsibilities

• Strengthening financial controls to maintain accuracy, integrity, and compliance
• Preparing monthly management accounts, group reports, and variance analysis
• Monitoring expenditure against budgets and identifying risks or deviations
• Managing VAT and tax matters in compliance with Maltese legislation
• Liaising with auditors and supporting audit processes
• Overseeing invoicing and payment administration efficiently and accurately
• Analysing production cost variances and providing operational insights
• Supporting budget preparation and rolling forecast monitoring

The ideal candidate must possess a tertiary level of education with a Degree in Accountancy or ACCA qualification whilst previous work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, is a plus.

Ideally, the candidate must be familiar with the local tax and VAT legislation, be proficient in Microsoft word and excel whilst experience in using SAP is an advantage.

The candidate must be an effective team player with the ability to work on his own initiative, be a problem-solver and be able to take decisions.
