GCS Malta is looking for a Software Engineer to work with a leading bank in Malta. The chosen candidate will be reporting directly to the Team Leader. 

The job holder is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting software applications, delivering new functionality, resolving defects, and participating in code reviews.
 

Responsibilities

• Designing and architecting scalable, maintainable software solutions.
• Supporting system maintenance and vendor-related activities.
• Resolving technical issues, incidents, and defects through root cause analysis.
• Mentoring team members and sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
• Collaborating with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
• Following software development lifecycle standards and departmental procedures.
• Supporting the delivery of large-scale and critical IT projects from planning to deployment.
• Communicating with stakeholders and presenting technical solutions and recommendations.
• Providing 24/7 operational support, including on-call responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have relevant Software Engineering experience combined with either an MQF Level 5 qualification, four years of relevant experience, or an MQF Level 6 Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience.

This role requires knowledge of programming, debugging, secure software development, testing, and basic DevOps and CI/CD practices.

A commitment to keeping up with emerging software technologies, together with a responsible and dedicated approach to the role, is essential.
